Abstract: M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) has been widely confirmed as a specific autoantibody for Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN),  which has opened up a new train of thought the pathogenesis of IMN . A large number of clinical data indicate that PLA2R and its antibody play an important role in the pathogenesis of IMN,  and are related to the activity,  severity and prognosis of the disease. It can even predict disease recurrence and guide the timing of treatment. This article reviews the application value of PLA2R and its antibody in the diagnosis and treatment of IMN.
