Abstract: The patients of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),such as ulcerative colitis(UC) and Grohn disease(CD),are often accompanied by malnutrition and growth retardation. Nutrition support plays an important role in the treatment of IBD. Nutritional risk screening should be performed routinely for patients of IBD and appropriate methods should be used to assess nutritional status. Enteral nutrition is the best dietary intervention for the induction of remission and maintenance of remission in Crohn  disease in children, but a replacement for medication in adults. There is a variety of nutritional preparation. As different patients may have different reactions to different supplements, individualization therapy is very essential to maximize the function of  nutritional support.
