Joint ultrasonography in diagnosis of acute gout arthritis

Abstract: Objective  To discuss the application of  joint ultrasonography in the diagnosis of acute gout arthritis. Methods  The ultrasound imaging findings and the specific manifestations were compared in different joint zones of the patients with acute gout and other arthritis, evaluating the diagnostic value of different ultrasound manifestations. Results   In the period of acute gout arthritis,  the “double contour sign” was statistically significant and the positive rate was high, the sign was found mostly in the knees and toe joints.Conclusion    “Double contour sign”could be the main ultrasound imaging feature in acute gout different from other arthritis, the knees and toe joints are the most frequently involved sites.
