Effectiveness of aromatherapy for somatopathy comorbided insomnia: a metaanalysis of randomized controlled trials

Abstract: ObjectiveTo evaluate the effectiveness of aromatherapy for somatopathy comorbided insomnia in patients. MethodsElectronic database Pubmed, CBM, ScienceDirect, FMRS, CNKI, Wanfang and Vip digital database were searched to collect randomized controlled trials(RCTs) on aromatherapy for comorbid insomnia in patients. Studies were selected and data were extracted by two investigators independently. Metaanalysis was conducted by RevMan 5.3. ResultsSeven studies met the inclusion criteria, involving 508 patients.  The results of metaanalysis favoured aromatherapy more than the control (P<0.01). ConclusionAromatherapy can improve somatopathy comorbided insomnia in patients significantly. Therefore, aromatherapy is recommended as a complementary therapy to improve insomnia in patients with somatopathy.
