Abstract: Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a kind of chronic nonspecific intestinal inflammatory disease with unclear etiology. One of the main clinical manifestations of IBD is malnutrition, which is related to the degree of the disease activity, disease course, and involved lesion. Malnutrition is also an important factor for patients' prognosis. Therefore, nutritional support therapy is an essential method for patients with IBD. In recent years, much progress has achieved in the mechanisms, indications, and therapy methods of IBD nutritional support therapy. This article reviews the recent studies of changes of nutritional status, assessment methods, energy requirement, and nutritional support therapy in patients with IBD to improve the clinical application of nutritional support therapy.
